Hello Amsterdam
Monday, March 27, 2017
We arrived mid-morning into Amsterdam and navigated our way to our cozy little room. We found the place on AirBnb. It looked perfect for us and so we were anxious to see if it met expectations. Our host met us at the door and showed us around.
The stairs are steep… really steep… typical Danish building. We are on the third floor and have a nice sized bedroom, private bath, and kitchen with small seating area. There are a set of stairs in the middle of the kitchen that lead up to a rooftop garden patio. The décor is eclectic and homey; you feel you are in someone’s very inviting home. There are little knickknacks all over the place, but there is a wonderful stovetop espresso pot, a milk steamer/frother, and plenty of coffee and tea to keep us satisfied. We are located near several museums and a quick tram ride into the city center.
We were pretty haggard from traveling, so decided to nap for a couple hours before going to get groceries. After that, we went to Albert Cupmarkyt just as it was closing, and then made our way back to our place, wandering through the neighborhoods. We finally stopped at a corner tavern and plopped under one of the heat lamps to sit back and enjoy the evening. More to come.
